Snow mesurements in Lapland

As part of their final study programme, two students from the Institute for Physical Geography and Landscape Ecology completed a two months long project in Lapland in northern Finland.

They conducted glaciological field measurements, e.g. snow depth and snow density measurements, weather parameter assessments and drone surveys near the village of Kilpisjärvi. This project was conducted under extremely difficult conditions in one of the coldest regions in mainland Europe. The data the students collected will serve as a basis for their master's theses. The project was supported by the PhyGeo and funded by ERASMUS +.
