Three new staff members at the Institute

We are happy to welcome three new members of staff to the Institute: Tienes Bär, Simone Ott and Dr. Joana Seguin.

Tienes Bär received his Bachelor and Master of Education degrees in Geography, English, and Education from the University of Trier. Within the project "InnovationPlus: Modularized Blended Learning in GIS Education", funded by the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony, he is developing ideas for the further development of teaching at PhyGeo in the teaching focus GIS. Simone Ott holds a BSc degree in Environmental Protection from the University of Hildesheim and a MSc degree in Geography - Resource Analysis and Management from the University of Göttingen. She will work on different methods for soil erosion detection and modelling in the context of the long term soil erosion monitoring programme Lower Saxony and will also write her dissertation on this topic.
Joana Seguin obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography and French (profile teaching) at the University of Göttingen, received her Master of Science in Physical Geography at the University of Heidelberg and completed her PhD at the Institute for Ecosystem Research at Kiel University. Financed by study quality funds (SQM), she will teach various courses at the PhyGeo and provide expert advice for the Master’s programme Landscape Sciences as well as carry out research tasks in the PhyGeo projects.

Due to the current corona situation, all three start their activities at PhyGeo in the home office.
