The overarching goal of the project is to assess the ecosystem services  of the German seas in the 12 nautical miles zone and in the exclusive economic zone and to evaluate them in monetary terms. This can support political decisions in this area in a variety of ways. Previous research has quantified the benefits for achieving good environmental status as required in the Marine Strategy Framework Directive i (MSRL). However, this work does not allow the different economic values of individual ÖSL to be spatially differentiated. EBeMÖS should therefore take a decisive step in this direction and thus not only contribute to the implementation of the MSFD, but also support Action 5 and Action 14 of the 2nd Target of the EU Biodiversity Strategy. In addition, the results of this project will serve to support cost-effectiveness and cost-benefit analyzes of individual measures.
